Stakeholder Workshop On “Social Wellbeing And Community Development In Pulau Pangkor”

Introduction
One research project has been developed under the “Spatial Environmental Governance for Sustainability Research, UMSERGE University of Malaya” The main title of the research is Social Wellbeing and Community Development on Pangkor Island. Additionally, the project is being completed in two years starting from January 2014 until December 2015. The Stakeholder workshop was held to give the big idea and the view of the whole issue and the problem on Pangkor Island. The Stakeholder workshop was attended by researchers from the university, relevant government agencies and representative from JKKK Pangkor Island.
The project research was divided into 7 sub-researches and conducted by different researchers in Department of Geography, University of Malaya.

- Political Landscape and The Spatial Voting Behaviour of Pulau Pangkor (Dr Rosmadi Fauzi)
- Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Pulau Pangkor (Dr Tengku Adeline Adura Tengku Hamzah)
- Changing Environment and The Perceptions of Quality of Life in Pangkor Island (Dr Mariney Mohd Yusoff)
- Knowledge Attitudes and Practices Towards Water and Vector Borne Disease and Community Health in Pulau Pangkor (Dr Aziz Shafie)
- Governance in Context ; Integrating Land Use Conflict and Sectoral Division in Pulau Pangkor (Dr Goh Hong Ching)
- Knowledge Management Component (Social Wellbeing and Community Development in Pulau Pangkor) (Prof Dr Jamilah Mohammad)
Report
The workshop was attended by "Stakeholder" from various government agencies and representatives from Pangkor Island. Here is the list of the “Stakeholder”:

From the workshop; all the Stakeholder had provided us with a lot of information about their background, studies, research, and also base of experience on Pangkor Island. The issues that had been highlighted are the environmental problems, governance issues and some political view that need to be discussed in more detail
Conclusion
In conclusion, this " Stakeholder” workshop " has been successfully implemented and has been well-received with the cooperation from various parties .
